AI agents are moving rapidly into enterprise operations, taking on responsibilities from customer engagement to automated decision making. While they create new opportunities for efficiency and scale, they also expand the attack surface. Without strong controls, agents can be overprivileged, expose sensitive data, or be exploited by attackers. Securing these non-human identities is now as critical as protecting human users.
Okta addresses this challenge with Auth for GenAI, a solution that embeds identity directly into AI agent interactions. Auth for GenAI ensures every agent is authenticated, granted only the minimum access needed, and continuously governed under Zero Trust principles. This prevents unauthorized activity, safeguards sensitive data, and provides full auditability of agent actions across environments.
The Customer Identity Trends Report 2025 shows why this matters. Nearly half of all registration attempts across the Auth0 platform were flagged as attacks, underscoring the rising pressure on identity systems. At the same time, consumers prioritize security and trust above all else when deciding whether to engage with a brand. Extending that same level of rigor to AI agents is critical to building confidence in their use.
With Auth for GenAI, Okta treats AI agents as first class identities. This approach allows organizations to deploy AI at scale while maintaining security, reinforcing trust, and unlocking new potential for innovation.
